BASICS

UPDATE ANY ROOM

When you add the right rug to a room, it does more than keep your floors safe from dust and scuffs. An area rug can tie a room together, make it feel bigger, and make it feel newer, all while protecting your floors. Revitalize your home with a new look and feel thanks to our selection of area rug colors, styles, and fibers. Whether you're updating an eclectic living room with an oriental rug or laying something soft and cottony in the bedroom, Hadinger Flooring has the perfect rug for your home.

A VARIETY OF STYLES AND TEXTURES

An area rug isn't just an addition to an existing room, the right rug can be a work of art all on its own. With a variety of styles, textures, and colors, finding a carpet to fit your unique aesthetic is easy, but choosing just one is where it gets hard. That's why it's important to pay attention to loop styles, which determine how soft or hard and how short or high your rug will be. Color is important too: from simple neutrals to ornately patterned oriental styles.

TYPES OF

NATURAL FIBER RUGS

Natural fiber rugs are typically made from silk, wool, cotton, jute, sisal, or seagrass, though there are many other fibers available. These materials are harvested from natural sources like plants and animals, then processed into fibers which are woven into rugs. Natural fiber rugs tend to last many years than synthetic fiber rugs, which is why they're so popular. They are also more expensive due to the labor-intensive crafting process, especially with high-end materials like wool and silk.

SYNTHETIC FIBER RUGS

Synthetic fiber rugs are manufactured using petroleum-based fibers, meaning they are 100% artificial. This makes synthetic fiber rugs extremely affordable and resistant to stains, damage, and mold. While they may be lower maintenance, these rugs will not last as long as their natural counterparts so, while they are initially affordable, you will have to replace your rug more frequently.

HOW DO I KEEP MY RUGS CLEAN?

There are a number of things you can do to make sure your rugs are properly cleaned and maintained. Purchase a good vacuum cleaner and use it often; if it has bags, makes sure you change them regularly. Clean up spills as soon as they happen and use a professional cleaning company at least once per year to give your rug a deep clean. And, as with any flooring product, be sure to consult the manufacturer’s cleaning and maintenance suggestions.

WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT SPILLS?

If you spill something on your rug, it’s important to clean it up right away. First, pick up any solids or debris and use a clean, dry cloth to soak up as much liquid as possible. Then rinse the area with warm water, blotting with your cloth or towel. You shouldn’t scrub or use hot water as this can damage individual fibers. Once the area has dried, you can vacuum over it to help restore the rug to its original appearance. If you’re considering using a rug cleaning product, be sure to follow manufacturer guidelines or consult with our flooring professionals for a recommendation.
